A ROYAL WEEKEND ON THE RIVERFRONT — SATURDAY & SUNDAY, MARCH 15 & 16

WILMINGTON, DE — By royal proclamation, we hereby invite all princesses and princes from nearby and faraway lands to an enchanting “Prince & Princess Weekend” celebration at the Delaware Children’s Museum (DCM) on Saturday and Sunday, March 15 and 16. Festivities to feature special performances and appearances by First State Ballet Theatre and the Delaware Children’s Theatre, hands-on activities and crafts, and more! Regal attire encouraged; horse drawn carriage optional.

First State Ballet Theatre will kick off the royal festivities at the DCM, on Saturday, March 15, for a special performance of excerpts from their upcoming production ofCinderella (premiering April 12 & 13 at the Grand Opera House). Find a seat before the clock strikes 1pm, as company dancers — dressed in spectacular, Russian-made costumes — pirouette their way down the DCM’s Grand Hallway. After the performance, young princesses and princes in the audience will have the opportunity to meet and greet with the Cinderella dancers.

Cast members from the Delaware Children’s Theatre upcoming production of Sleeping Beauty (opening Saturday, April 5) will also join in the royal fun on Sunday, March 16, at 1pm. Enjoy a spell-binding performance by the cast, then meet and greet with your favorite characters!

And all weekend long at the DCM, participate in a museum-wide “Royal Scavenger Hunt;” listen to fairy tales and learn about different royal families from around the globe during “Royal Reading Time;” and design your very own royal scepter, family crest, and elegant crown in “Aristocrat Art.” As an added bonus, those who come dressed in their best regal attire — as a prince, princess, or knight — will receive $2 off general admission on both Saturday and Sunday, March 15 and 16.
